The Asia Group, LLC is now accepting applications for an associate to join our Washington, D.C. office. The employee will primarily support the firm’s South Korea portfolio.

The Asia Group is a strategic and business advisory firm that supports Fortune 500 corporations with market entry and expansion strategies, stakeholder engagement strategies, and complex conflict resolution initiatives in the Indo-Pacific region. The Asia Group’s clients cover a broad range of industries, including technology, manufacturing, energy, financial services, hospitality, pharmaceuticals, transportation, and defense.

The Asia Group is looking for highly motivated candidates who have either an MBA or a Master’s degree in international relations, political science, and/or Asian studies. Associates work closely with partner-led client teams and play key roles in supporting the firm’s research and analysis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Korea team in servicing clients through execution of high-value-add deliverables.
  • Conduct timely and meticulous market, industry, political, and policy research and analysis
  • Draft executive memos, PowerPoint presentations, briefing materials and other written products for clients and internal audience.
  • Provide background information to support memos, reports, and briefing materials for clients
  • Support with TAG business development, including through market and corporate research and analysis.
  • Provide logistical, travel, and event support for client engagements, as well as support for partners and senior staff business travels.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • MA or equivalent academic/practice experience related to Korean economic, political, and policy issues
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably including in a client-servicing industry, government relations, or government experience
  • Impeccable English (business) writing, research, and editorial skills
  • Working proficiency in Korean
  • Ability to research in Korean and read Korean articles and documents
  • Outstanding research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with multiple tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint
  • Team player with positive and professional attitude
  • Eager for professional development and adept and open to learning new things

Desired Focus and Expertise:

  • Demonstrated familiarity with Indo-Pacific market dynamics, especially as it relates to South Korea’s business activities
  • Demonstrated understanding of the political dynamics in and surrounding North Korea

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. Employees will work in a hybrid working environment, required to come into the DC office a few times a week. TAG provides competitive health benefits and paid time off, with training opportunities available for its employees.
