Jonah Lefkoe is a Senior Associate at The Asia Group, where he works on the firm’s Research Team, helping clients navigate complex commercial, political, and economic developments across the Indo-Pacific. In this role, Jonah generates rapid-response analysis and deep research to help clients understand new business opportunities and assess geopolitical risks in Asia. Jonah is also the author of TAG’s daily newswire, Daily Asia, and aids the firm’s business development and thought leadership, producing the Tea Leaves Podcast.
Before joining the Asia Group, Jonah was awarded the Yenching Scholarship, Peking University’s flagship international master’s award, given yearly to a cohort of about 100 scholars from around the world. As a Yenching Scholar, Jonah studied at PKU’s Guanghua School of Management and PKU Law School, learning from top scholars and practitioners of government and commerce in China. His dissertation focused on China’s economic statecraft and growing leadership in international financial governance. In support of these interests, Jonah earned an online certificate in financial accounting, business analytics, and managerial strategy from Harvard Business School.
Jonah has an extensive professional background in international relations and government, including research experience with the Urban Institute Center on International Development and Governance, the Ohio Democratic Party, and Senator Bernie Sanders’ legislative team in Washington, D.C. Jonah also conducted field work with an NGO in Himachal Pradesh, India.
Jonah graduated from Harvard University cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in History and East Asian Studies. At Harvard, Jonah was an undergraduate fellow in the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics, reported for The Harvard Crimson, led the Harvard College Wine Society, and represented Harvard at the U.S. Military Academy’s Student Conference on U.S. Affairs. He also directed and performed with the Hyperion Shakespeare Company and dabbled in beekeeping.
In addition to his academic work at Peking University, Jonah studied Mandarin Chinese intensively at Beijing Language and Culture University and is proficient in the language.
