Director for South Asia
Shireen Singh is the Director for South Asia with The Asia Group, where she brings over 20 years of experience working at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. At The Asia Group, Shireen supports clients with their strategy and expansion efforts in South Asia across a range of sectors, including energy, pharmaceutical and health care, financial services, high education, and manufacturing. Drawing from her extensive experience working in India, Shireen brings a deep understanding of the region’s policy and business landscapes at the central and state levels in India. She supports efforts of the TAG Foundation to promote “giving” as one of the key values of The Asia Group.
Prior to joining The Asia Group, Shireen served as Political Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi for 21 years. Her portfolios included domestic Indian politics and parliamentary affairs, foreign policy, and defense issues. In this capacity, she drafted all U.S. congressionally mandated reports, including on human rights, international religious freedom, and trafficking in persons for India and Bhutan. During her career with the U.S. Embassy, Shireen coordinated bilateral meetings between President Obama and Prime Minister Modi in 2010 and 2015 and led planning and execution of the U.S.-India Strategic Dialogue. She has also authored analytical reports on India’s relations with the United States, Pakistan, China, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Iran, and Russia.
Shireen holds a B.A. in Political Science from the Jesus and Mary College at Delhi University. She has received several awards for her service at the U.S. State Department, including the Meritorious Honor Award for supporting the U.S.-India relations following the Indian national elections in 2014.
