Brandy Darling is an Associate at The Asia Group, where she supports clients across a broad range of industries in China, with a focus on China’s political and regulatory environment.

Brandy brings a diverse range of private sector and research experience to her position. Brandy supported Walmart’s Global Government Affairs team to develop and revise Walmart’s strategy in key markets around the world, helping the company navigate political and economic challenges in China, Mexico, and Canada. Brandy also worked on the China team at the Albright Stonebridge Group, where she focused primarily on updating technology clients on U.S.-China technology competition and its policy implications. Prior to joining The Asia Group, Brandy interned at the African Chamber of Commerce in China, where she conducted research analyzing the economic effects of African students studying in China, publishing her findings with the African Chamber of Commerce.

Brandy is a previous awardee of the 2017 Critical Language Scholarship with the Department of State to study Chinese in Dalian, China. Brandy holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University with double concentrations in international economics and international political economy. While at SAIS, she also received a Certificate in Chinese and American Studies after a year at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center in China. Brandy also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and East Asian Studies from Connecticut College, where she also earned a Certificate in International Studies and the Liberal Arts for her research on Sino-African relations in the U.S. and China. Brandy is fluent in Mandarin.
