Jason Trinh is an Analyst at The Asia Group, where he works for the firm’s Research & Analytics practice and helps inform clients about the strategic business implications of key developments in the Indo-Pacific. In this capacity, he assists with the publication of TAG’s Daily Asia newswire, including by providing insightful data visualization, and the production of TAG’s podcast, Tea Leaves.

Prior to TAG, Jason was an intern at the Eurasia Group Foundation, where he assisted the organization’s social media and educational initiatives on American foreign policy. Jason also worked as a summer instructor in Politics, Law, and Economics for Yale University’s highly competitive high school program, Yale Young Global Scholars, where he delivered seminars on the Cold War in Asia and the history of U.S.-Asia relations.  He received the Borg Fellowship from the Weatherhead East Asian Institute to conduct his undergraduate senior thesis on the effects of U.S.-Vietnam normalization on Vietnam’s post-war domestic politics.

Jason’s understanding of the Indo-Pacific is shaped by his upbringing in Hanoi, Vietnam, and his time spent abroad in France and the United States. He graduated cum laude from Columbia University with an undergraduate degree in History and Political Science, specializing in International Relations and Comparative Politics. He also earned a B.A in Politics and Asian Studies from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) through a dual degree program with Columbia. In addition to being a freelance writer on contemporary socio-political issues in Southeast Asia, Jason enjoys film photography in his free time and was an avid member of Columbia University Lion Dance.
