Senior AdvisorJoshua Kurtzig is a Senior Advisor to The Asia Group, based in Shanghai. Josh supports the firm’s clients in China’s healthcare sector, drawing upon a decade of practical experience funding, establishing, and running hospitals and clinics across China.
Josh also serves as Managing Director of Tangram Health, an Asia-focused healthcare company that plans, operates, and invests in hospitals and clinics around Asia. Tangram Health provides hospital/clinic planning and operational services to public and private hospitals.
Previously, Josh worked at United Family Healthcare for eight years. During his time at UFH, he successfully ran two of the group’s hospitals—in Beijing and Ulaanbaatar, developed UFH’s postpartum business, designed UFH’s first self-insurance product, and founded the group’s home-health service. He also developed several new hospital projects in China’s second-tier cities and was responsible for UFH’s postpartum rehabilitation business.
Before moving into healthcare, Josh worked in investment management for ten years, working in investments and financial advisory in China and the United States. Josh’s experience in the financial services and investment industry includes time spent at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Stonebridge International, and the International Monetary Fund.
Josh is a frequent speaker on healthcare issues in China. He holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business, as well as degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Virginia. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and French, and has intermediate Russian.
