Will explore the cutting edge strategic, technological and commercial issues impacting the US-India relationship & the wider Indo-Pacific region
January 3 – New Delhi
The Asia Group (TAG) and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) are pleased to announce an innovative new research partnership to explore the emerging strategic, technological, and commercial issues impacting the U.S.-India relationship and the wider Indo-Pacific region. The research focus areas will include examining how to expand and deepen defense cooperation, exploring the frontiers on cyber security and regulation, and examining emerging issues related to the digital economy, privacy, trade, and development.
The new partnership will be jointly overseen by former U.S. Ambassador to India and TAG Vice Chair Richard Verma and ORF President Samir Saran. “We are deeply excited to announce our partnership with The Asia Group — we look forward to tackling some of the most pressing geopolitical and commercial challenges together,” said Dr. Saran.
Over the course of the year, TAG and ORF will also convene a series of high-level roundtables and events covering trends and developments animating the political, commercial, and geopolitical landscapes in the bilateral relationship and across the Indo-Pacific region. TAG will also be a key partner at ORF’s upcoming Raisina Dialogue, India’s premier geopolitical and geo-economic conference.
“The Prime Minister was right when he said that we have overcome the hesitations of history in the U.S.-India partnership – the question is what does the next chapter bring? The reason I am so excited for this joint effort with ORF is I think we can help chart a course that sets our nations on the path to be the defining partnership of the 21st Century,” said Ambassador Verma.
