The Asia Group Launches Digital Practice

Targeted Support to Navigate IT and Data Policy Risks and Opportunities

Washington, D.C. & Hong Kong | February 14 – The Asia Group (TAG) is excited to announce the launch of a Digital Practice to help clients understand and navigate digital policy developments across key markets of the Indo-Pacific.

“Companies from New York to Hong Kong, San Francisco to Mumbai, have a strong need to understand the rapidly changing regulatory environment for internet governance, data privacy, and other issues in the Indo-Pacific region – which is already the world’s largest region for internet users and revenue growth for many corporates,” said Ambassador Kurt Tong, Managing Partner at TAG. “We believe TAG can play an important role in this space to help our clients filter through the noise and make informed business decisions. Our Digital Practice will make our clients future-ready and digital-proof,” added Tong.

The TAG Digital Practice will help leading companies seize new opportunities to realize exponential growth in the region and to track, understand, and address emerging policy risks. The Digital Practice will also leverage the firm’s proprietary AI capabilities to drive differentiated and real-time services for clients.

“As our clients face the challenges of a rapidly evolving global landscape, understanding the trajectory of technology and its implications has never been more critical,” said TAG CEO and Co-founder Nirav Patel. “The Digital Practice is a testament to TAG’s commitment to innovation and excellence, providing unparalleled advice that combines deep regional experience and expert insights.”

The Digital Practice will be co-chaired by two of TAG’s own experts in the fields of technology and innovation: George Chen, Managing Director for Hong Kong and Taiwan, based in TAG’s Hong Kong office, and Uzair Younus, a Principal based at TAG headquarters in Washington, D.C. with experience helping clients in South Asia and India. Chen joined TAG in June 2023, bringing two decades of experience in tech, media, and public policy to the firm. He was most recently a managing director for public policy at Meta, overseeing a portfolio that included Greater China and other markets in Asia. Younus joined TAG in October 2022 and has deep expertise on technology and policy matters, including advising clients on data protection and privacy policy developments, as well as innovation strategies across the South Asian region.

The Asia Group is the premier partner to the world’s leading companies seeking to excel across the Indo-Pacific. With a multi-disciplinary team of dynamic professionals across the region, The Asia Group enables companies to unlock value and mitigate risk at the intersection of public policy and corporate strategy.
