Thao Nguyen is an Analyst at the Asia Group, where she works for the firm’s Southeast Asia practice in Hanoi, Vietnam. In this role, she supports the Vietnam Country Team with recurring research products such as Vietnam Daily Digest, AIPAC Weekly, and Energy Weekly in addition to supporting ad hoc and client research.
Prior to TAG, Thao worked as a project assistant and local coordinator in Vietnam for a Washington D.C.-based non-profit specialized in international security, supporting the implementation of U.S. Department of States initiatives in Vietnam and Malaysia.
Thao’s expertise in the Indo-Pacific region is shaped by her upbringing in Hanoi and her education in the United States. She graduated cum laude from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and McDonough School of Business, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business & Global Affairs and a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. During her time in Washington, D.C., Thao also worked as an extern consultant on various public and private sector projects in Ghana, India, and the U.S. In her spare time, Thao enjoys reading and immersing herself in Hanoi’s vibrant coffee and jazz scenes in addition to volunteering in nationwide women’s health and domestic violence prevention initiatives.
