The Asia Group Welcomes Dr. Mira Rapp-Hooper as Partner

Washington, D.C. | May 27, 2025 – The Asia Group (TAG) is pleased to welcome Dr. Mira Rapp-Hooper as a Partner. In her new role, Rapp-Hooper will lead the firm’s Geopolitical Risk Practice helping clients navigate growing geopolitical challenges. She will also oversee TAG’s state-of-the-art research and analytical products and public-facing thought leadership efforts. With her extensive experience in Asia policy, Rapp-Hooper brings invaluable insights into the complex dynamics shaping the Indo-Pacific, positioning TAG to deliver even greater value to clients amid ongoing geopolitical shifts and geoeconomic uncertainties.

Rapp-Hooper is a preeminent leader on US-Asia strategy with expertise on U.S. alliances, economic statecraft, deterrence, nuclear policy, and great power competition. From 2023 to 2025, she served as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for East Asia and Oceania at the National Security Council (NSC), where she played a key role on U.S. policy responses to the region’s most pressing foreign policy issues. From 2021 to 2023, she served as Director for Indo-Pacific Strategy at the NSC, shaping the United States’ Indo-Pacific strategy and managing key initiatives, including the Quad, U.S.-Japan-ROK trilateral cooperation, and regional economic and security frameworks.

Previously, Rapp-Hooper held senior fellowships at the Council on Foreign Relations, Center for a New American Security, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. She is currently a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. A published author and frequent commentator, Rapp-Hooper has written two books, as well as published in Foreign Affairs, Political Science Quarterly, and The Washington Quarterly.
