Emily Jin is a Senior Associate with the China Practice at The Asia Group, where she analyzes geopolitical trends to help clients in navigating the complexities of U.S.-China relations.
Prior to joining The Asia Group, Emily was a Senior China Analyst at Datenna, where she led research on U.S.-China economic and technological competition, focusing on China’s technological capabilities and long-term national security objectives. Emily managed client relationships, supported business development efforts, and drove the creation and execution of impactful research initiatives. She delivered high-level briefings and engaged with key stakeholders, including think tanks, government agencies, and industry leaders.
Previously, Emily served as a Research Associate for the Energy, Economics, and Security Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), where her research explored China’s political-economic structure, U.S.-China economic relations, and the intersection of economic and national security policymaking. Emily contributed to policy discussions, testified before the U.S. Congress on the national security implications of China’s alternative financial systems, and developed a deep understanding of the interplay between technology, economics, and national security.
Emily holds an MA in International Economics and China Studies from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a BA in Psychology from Georgetown University. She is natively fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Outside of work, Emily enjoys reading, writing, running, and translating between Chinese and English.
