Henry Wessel is an Associate in The Asia Group’s Greater China Practice, where he helps businesses navigate regulatory, geopolitical, and economic developments related to China, particularly within the life sciences sector.

Before joining The Asia Group, Henry spent two years in Beijing, China, where he was a Yenching Scholar at Peking University and earned a Master of Economics (Economics and Management). He also served as the Yenching Academy’s business and political events liaison. In this role, he led meetings between Peking University students and top U.S. government and business officials in Beijing. Additionally, he worked on Medtronic China’s Corporate Affairs and Communications Team, helping one of the world’s largest medical technology companies navigate Chinese public procurement and market access policies.

Prior to his time in Beijing, Henry worked at D.C.-based business advisory firms, including for BowerGroupAsia’s Research and China teams and The Cohen Group’s China Practice. At the two firms, he tracked commercial policy for the Chinese market and advised clients across multiple industries. He also spent time on Capitol Hill as a legislative intern for Congressman Joshua S. Gottheimer.

Henry graduated summa cum laude from Kenyon College, where he majored in East Asian history and served as the captain of the men’s varsity tennis team. He is proficient in Mandarin.
