Washington, DC | January 10, 2023 — The Asia Group (“TAG”) is pleased to welcome Valerie Rozman, a long-time leader on Asia in the U.S. government’s executive branch and intelligence community, as a Principal at the firm. Based in Washington, Valerie will serve as Director of TAG’s Research and Analytics practice, leading the team’s efforts to produce high-quality, business-relevant, and actionable cross-cutting intelligence to help clients advance their strategic interests across the region. She will also provide critical leadership as a Principal to the Southeast Asia team.
“Valerie’s vast experience on the Indo-Pacific and in briefing senior U.S. government officials will further enhance TAG’s industry-leading analytic capabilities, which leading global companies and investors highly value,” said The Asia Group’s Managing Partner Kurt Tong.
“We are incredibly delighted to have Valerie join the firm as we continue to expand across the region,” said TAG Co-founder and CEO Nirav Patel. “TAG is committed to recruiting and retaining the best and the brightest talent on Asia. Valerie is a clear testament to that vision, and I am excited to work closely together to further develop comprehensive analytic assessments that leverage our network and business presence across the Indo-Pacific region.”
TAG’s Research and Analytics practice comprises experts with experience spanning government, journalism, and academia. The team provides cutting-edge analysis of region-wide developments in TAG’s flagship Daily Asia newswire, rapid-response Instant Insight memos, and bespoke client reports, also leading the firm’s Thought Leadership efforts.

With experts in Washington, Hanoi, Jakarta, and elsewhere in the region, the practice will continue helping clients manage regulatory challenges and advance core business objectives.
During her 16 years with the federal government, Valerie provided strategic insight on Indo-Pacific geopolitics to officials at the senior-most levels, briefing the U.S. President and several other Cabinet officials, along with senior foreign partners. She was widely recognized within the U.S. intelligence community for making significant contributions to the President’s Daily Briefing and was inducted into the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) Senior Analytic Service. She served as acting Chief of Staff and Mission Representative to the CIA’s Executives for the East Asia and Pacific Mission Center and, separately, as the Deputy National Intelligence Manager for East Asia and Deputy National Intelligence Officer for East Asia at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
