Chief Financial Officer (DC)

The Asia Group, LLC is now accepting applications for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Washington, DC office.

The Asia Group is a strategic and business advisory firm that supports Fortune 500 corporations with market entry and expansion strategies, stakeholder engagement strategies, and complex conflict resolution initiatives in the Indo-Pacific region. The Asia Group’s clients cover a broad range of industries, including technology, manufacturing, energy, financial services, hospitality, pharmaceuticals, transportation, and defense. The Asia Group’s organizational structure incorporates overseas offices and subsidiaries in India, Japan, Vietnam, and China. As part of its strategic growth initiatives, the firm is actively expanding into new locations throughout the Indo-Pacific.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will oversee all finance and accounting functions of our company and serve as a member of the executive leadership team. As a strategic thought partner, the CFO will work closely with the CEO, the Executive Committee, the General Counsel, and key members of the Operations team, to drive financial performance and ongoing transformation. We are seeking a dynamic leader who can provide operational and strategic direction, drive growth, identify opportunities and issues, and communicate proactively to execute effective solutions.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Act as a strategic and analytical thought partner to the executive team to achieve key financial goals.
  • Lead all financial aspects of the company, including financial planning, financial reporting and projections, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, treasury, corporate finance, forecasting, capital structure, and corporate development.
  • Develop and implement associated short and long-term strategic objectives, recommending initiatives to enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
  • Establish best-in-class processes and policies to improve operational effectiveness, ensuring that our financial operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with industry standards.
  • Drive analytical rigor in thinking and decision-making, enabling growth by identifying, evaluating, testing, tracking, and reporting on progress against key strategic financial priorities.
  • Foster the development of a high-performing finance team, ensuring firm-wide financial discipline, and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial information – both data and insights – to facilitate management decisions and maximize profitable growth.
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, reports, and special analysis, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and transparency in financial communications.
  • Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion within the finance team and contribute to our company’s commitment to creating an inclusive work environment.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
  • Proven track record in driving financial growth and scaling operations within a growing, international company.
  • Start-up mentality with a willingness and desire to jump in, be directly involved operationally, and drive growth.
  • Strong experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) as well as operational finance.
  • Proficient in financial control and reporting, with a demonstrated ability to ensure accuracy, clarity, and transparency in all financial communications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning with the ability to develop and implement short and long-term financial goals.
  • Extensive knowledge in treasury, corporate finance and capital markets, with solid understanding of working capital management.
  • Significant global experience, with a deep understanding of international financial markets and regulations, transfer-price regimes, and experience triangulating foreign tax regimes.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, hands-on approach to addressing complex financial challenges.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and establish structure in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Exceptional team leadership skills, with a proven ability to inspire, motivate, and guide high-performing teams.
  • Excellent collaboration and influencing skills, with a strong ability to foster cross-functional cooperation and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Robust strategic acumen and analytical capabilities, with the capacity to drive rigorous analytical thinking and strategic decision-making.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Prior experience as a CFO in a standalone business is preferred.
  • Merger and Acquisition (M&A) experience is a plus.
  • Past finance leadership in a start-up with experience taking a company public would be beneficial.
  • Experience in international expansion is required.

Education:

Degree in Finance/Accounting and a CPA or CFA certification. MBA strongly preferred.

Team:

The CFO will be part of the Leadership and Operations team, including 2 direct reports.
