Senior Associate – Korea (DC)

The Asia Group, LLC is now accepting applications for a senior associate to join our Washington, D.C. office. The employee will primarily support the firm’s South Korea portfolio, servicing global company clients.

The Asia Group (“TAG”) is a strategic and business advisory firm supporting Fortune 500 firms in established and emerging markets across the Indo-Pacific region and the United States. The Asia Group’s clients cover a broad range of industries, including high-tech, online platforms, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, entertainment, defense, energy, financial services, hospitality, and transportation.

The Senior Associate will be an integral member of TAG’s rapidly growing South Korea practice and the broader TAG team and support the firm’s client servicing. A strong candidate will be highly motivated and have a strong grasp of business fundamentals, industries, and geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific region. An ideal candidate will also have experience and interest in the broader regional policy and regulatory dynamics that shape private sector decisions.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Support the Korea team in servicing global clients through execution of high-value-added deliverables
  • Conduct timely and meticulous market, industry, political, and policy research and analysis for both South Korea and the United States
  • Draft high-quality executive memos, PowerPoint presentations, briefing materials, and other written products for clients and internal audiences, often within a short period.
  • Actively participate in regular client engagements, including briefing sessions and workshops, alongside partners and senior staff
  • Work closely with the broader TAG team to develop quality cross-team deliverables
  • Support with TAG business development, including through market and corporate research and analysis
  • Provide logistical and substantive support for client engagements, events, and TAG business travel
Required Experience and Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree (e.g., M.A., MBA) in relevant areas, including international relations, international business, and political science, or equivalent practical experience related to South Korea and relevant U.S. policy landscape
  • 4-7 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a client-servicing industry, government relations, or government experience
  • Deep understanding of the U.S. and South Korean public and private sector landscape
  • Outstanding research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Korean (reading and research)
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with multiple tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated team player with a positive and professional attitude
  • Eager for professional development and adept and open to gaining new skills and expertise
  • Ability to take initiative and proactively contribute to the team and TAG’s growth
Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated expertise and on-the ground experience in South Korea
  • Familiarity with U.S. policies impacting South Korean businesses and vice versa
  • Demonstrated familiarity with geopolitical dynamics, including U.S. China policy, U.S. Asia policy, and Indo-Pacific market dynamics
  • Demonstrated understanding of the political dynamics in and surrounding North Korea

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. Employees will work in an in-person environment, with remote benefits allowing flexibility on an as-needed basis. TAG provides competitive health benefits and generous paid time off, with regular training opportunities available to its employees. For this role, TAG offers a salary of $78,000-$105,000 with eligibility for a discretionary end of year bonus.
