Adnan Ahmad Ansari is a Vice President with The Asia Group’s South Asia Practice. Adnan brings extensive strategic advisory experience in helping clients advance their business and policy interests in India.
Before joining TAG, Adnan was an Associate Vice President at 9.9 Insights, the independent strategic adviser to the Dentons Global Advisers-Albright Stonebridge Group in India. Adnan spent close to seven years at 9.9, working with Indian and international corporations across sectors. He advised and helped organizations identify and leverage opportunities, mitigate risks, and engage with central and state governments. Adnan started his career as a fire protection engineer for Underwriters Laboratories (UL), where he worked with clients in Egypt, China, UAE, and India. He subsequently set up a social venture in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, before switching to public policy and consulting.
Adnan has expertise in technology and has engaged with government stakeholders extensively on key policies for data protection, intermediary liability, e-commerce, and market access, among others. Adnan has also facilitated large-scale investments, executed strategic sales for organizations, ran campaigns on critical policy issues, and enabled clients across sectors to navigate India’s complex policy environment.
At TAG, Adnan advises clients in the technology, electric vehicles, and semiconductors industry on navigating the complex domestic policy issues in South Asia. As a part of TAG’s Digital Practice, Adnan also works closely on issues related to digital public infrastructure, startup ecosystem, and artificial intelligence. Adnan is also a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Washington DC-based Atlantic Council
Adnan has a Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) in mechanical engineering with a minor in management from the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, a post-graduate diploma in liberal arts from Ashoka University, and a post-graduate diploma in International Law and Diplomacy. Born in the politically vibrant city of Allahabad and having lived in Gujarat and Delhi, Adnan follows politics keenly.
