Alexander Feldman is a Senior Advisor at The Asia Group, where he leverages over 35 years of experience working across Asia. His career spans senior roles in business, government, and non-profits, with a strong focus on Southeast Asia. Feldman’s deep understanding of the region’s political, economic, and cultural dynamics enables him to provide nuanced advice and effective strategies to assist corporations across multiple industries in managing geopolitical risk, entering new markets, achieving revenue goals, and refining strategies across Asia. This is further enhanced by his significant understanding of the interplay between business and public policy on both sides of the Pacific which is crucial to navigating the complex geopolitical landscapes faced by today’s multinational companies.

Before joining The Asia Group, Feldman served as the President of The Boeing Company in Southeast Asia, where he led strategy and operations across Boeing’s Commercial, Defense, and Space interests covering 12 countries. Feldman provided strategic advice to Boeing’s executive leadership on public policy matters, government engagement and regulatory compliance across Southeast Asia.  Under his leadership, Boeing established new corporate offices in Jakarta and Hanoi, managed the 737 MAX return to service, and supported over $16 billion in commercial sales.

Feldman’s extensive government experience includes serving in the Administrations of Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush in the Departments of Commerce and State. At the State Department, Feldman led the Bureau of International Information Programs with the rank of Assistant Secretary of State advising Secretaries of State Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice on global public diplomacy.  At the Commerce Department, he worked as the Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary for International Trade, Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for International Economic Policy as well as Associate Director for Business Liaison in the Office of the Secretary.

From 2009 to 2021, Feldman led the turnaround of the US-ASEAN Business Council as its President and CEO. During his tenure, the Council expanded to represent over 170 American multinationals, experienced substantial growth and enhanced its strategic impact through advocacy, intelligence gathering, and relationship building. Feldman was elected Chairman of the Board from 2020-2021 and led the Council through the challenges of the COVID pandemic. For his exceptional leadership, he was honored with the title of President Emeritus in 2021.

Feldman’s private sector experience also includes Asia-wide responsibilities covering general management, sales, business development, and strategic planning for major media companies, including CNBC Asia, MTV Asia, and STAR TV.  He founded and served as President & CEO of Business to Business Broadcasting (B2Bcast), one of Asia’s first streaming media companies. B2Bcast’s website was named one of the top 10 Business-focused sites in Asia by Adobe in 2000.

Recognized as a thought leader, Feldman has been quoted in prominent publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and New York Times, and regional publications across Asia. He has been a frequent commentator on major international media platforms including CNBC, Bloomberg, CNN, and BBC.  His opinions have been published in respected journals such as Foreign Policy as well as newspapers including the Business Times of Singapore.

Feldman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, an Eisenhower Fellow, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, tennis, and adventures with his family.
