Ankhi Das has over 25 years of senior leadership and operating experience in the technology sector. She is a senior advisor at The Asia Group and co-founder of early stage venture fund VG Capital. Ankhi works closely with The Asia Group and provides expert advice on all aspects of the global digital economy and growth of private capital markets in India and the adjacent region. She advises global management teams on market entry, policy risk management, local partnerships, and investment strategies.
Ankhi previously held a leadership role at Meta, where she served for a decade, leading the company’s market entry in India and other South Asian markets and establishing a large regional public policy team covering India, South and Central Asia. Of particular importance was her contribution to Meta’s growth mission in India, managing political and regulatory risks that helped scale the company’s products and services from 8 million to over 450 million users (2011-2021).
Prior to Meta, Ankhi was the policy director and head of corporate citizenship for Microsoft India. She was the company’s first policy hire in South Asia in 2004. She was responsible for policy campaigns for development of local software ecosystem, promotion of digital inclusion, building support for proprietary IP based software business and the sales model, protection of IPRs, and advocating for the technology for emerging markets work.
Ankhi is a senior fellow at Duke Centre for International Development and teaches an international technology trade negotiations course at the MPP Program at Sanford Public Policy School, Duke University.
Ankhi holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University. A yoga enthusiast, she divides her time between Delhi and Goa. Her interests include organic farming and mindful living.
