Associate

Arun Regi Chacko is an Associate with The Asia Group’s New Delhi office, supporting the firm’s India & South Asia practice. He works with clients across fintech, digital public infrastructure (DPI), and digital services, providing insights on public policy, regulatory developments, and market dynamics. His work focuses on India’s evolving financial services landscape and the intersection of technology, governance, and institutions.

Prior to joining TAG, Arun was part of the Innovation Hub of the Reserve Bank of India (RBIH), where he was among the early team members helping shape the institution’s approach to advancing financial innovation. His work centred on building and scaling digital public infrastructure initiatives in financial services, while deepening engagement across India’s fintech ecosystem. He was part of the core team that built and scaled the Unified Lending Interface (ULI), the country’s credit DPI. In this role, he designed and led targeted pilots and proof-of-concepts to expand access to formal credit for key segments, including platform-based gig workers, Agri-farmers, and MSMEs. At RBIH, he also contributed to research and ecosystem initiatives that informed policy and sectoral innovation.

Arun holds a master’s degree in public policy from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and brings hands-on experience working with the regulator, government, fintechs, and ecosystem stakeholders. His work is shaped by an interest in how market-led innovations and strong public institutions can reinforce each other to build systems that expand opportunity at scale. Outside of work, he follows politics keenly and applies the same curiosity in the kitchen – experimenting with ideas where some scale well, and others are best treated as learning experiences.
