Benedictus “Ben” Djanuar is a senior associate in the Southeast Asia practice at The Asia Group, focusing on Indonesia. Based in Jakarta, he provides strategic analysis to help clients navigate Indonesia’s policy and regulatory landscape.
Prior to joining The Asia Group, he served as Manager for the Indonesia practice at the US-ASEAN Business Council, where he was responsible for regulatory analysis and policy engagement across multiple industries, including ICT, trade, and manufacturing. He also supported the regional Travel and Tourism Committee, facilitating high-level and working-level engagements between member companies and ASEAN stakeholders, including organizing business missions on the margins of ASEAN ministerial meetings.
Earlier in his career, he worked on thought leadership publications, including industry outlooks and policy updates, for Deloitte. His public policy experience also includes supporting the Open Government Data initiative at the Executive Office of the President of Indonesia.
Benedictus holds a master’s degree in public policy from the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford. His academic interests focus on digital technologies, particularly data privacy and artificial intelligence governance. He graduated cum laude from Universitas Indonesia with a bachelor’s degree in international relations, where he received the best final paper award for his analysis of Indonesian foreign policy. He follows European football, particularly the English Premier League and the Italian Serie A.
