Byung-Dae Lim is a Managing Director for Korea, where he leverages over 28 years of experience working in several prominent global corporations of varying industries in capacity as a legal as well as a corporate/government affairs executive. Byung-Dae’s deep understanding of legal system, politics, economic, and cultural dynamics in both Korea and the United States enables him to provide nuanced advice and effective strategies to assist corporations across multiple industries in effectively managing geopolitical risk and refining operational strategies. This is further enhanced by his significant understanding of the interplay between business and public policy on both sides of the Pacific which is crucial to navigating the complex geopolitical landscapes faced by today’s multinational companies.
Prior to joining TAG, Byung-Dae served as the Executive Vice President of LG Group’s Corporate/Government Affairs office in Washington, D.C. Byung-Dae provided strategic advice to the top executive leaders of LG Group’s seven major companies, including LG Corp., LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Chem, LG Energy Solution, LG Innotek and LG CNS, on their respective operational issues as they relate to public policy matters, government engagement (both state and federal) and regulatory compliance matters.
Prior to leading LG’s Washington office, Byung-Dae served as the General Counsel at LG Innotek, a leading global supplier of key materials and components in the fields of mobile, display, semiconductor, automobile, and IoT which are developed and produced in Korea, as well as in overseas manufacturing facilities located in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Poland and Mexico. Byung-Dae also served as the General Counsel at LG Display, the world’s leading display company that produces and sells innovative displays and related products through differentiated technologies such as OLED and IPS, with manufacturing facilities in Korea, China and Vietnam.
Prior to joining LG, Byung-Dae served as the General Counsel at Pfizer Pharmaceutical Korea, Inc. and also worked as a foreign legal counsel in one of the largest Korean law firms – Kim & Chang, where he specialized and advised major foreign corporations on M&As, Joint Ventures, regulatory and compliance related projects. Byung-Dae also served as the Judge Advocate General in the Republic of Korea Army, Ministry of Defense.
Byung-Dae holds a BS degree in Statistics and Economics from George Washington University, MBA in Marketing from GWU, School of Business, and JD from Syracuse University, College of Law. Byung-Dae is a member of the Bar from the State of New York and has two beautiful daughters – Kate and Chloe.
