Duke Tang is an Associate for Taiwan at The Asia Group (TAG). Based in Taipei, Dukebrings his extensive experience in Taiwan’s politics and policymaking process to TAG and help our local and global clients to navigate through geopolitical and regulatory risks in various sectors, from financial services, to technology, and to life science.
Most recently Duke served as the Confidential International Affairs Specialist for the Commissioner of the Taipei City Government. In that role, Duke helped the Commissioner to manage his external engagements and he also provided political advice on international affairs to the leadership of Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan. Previously, Duke also worked in the Legislative Yuan, the parliament of Taiwan, as a professional staffer with focus on national security related issues. He started his public service career as an immigration officer at the National Immigration Agency for border controls.
Duke holds a PhD degree in Politics from the Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies (GIIASS) at Tamkang University, Taiwan, where he focused his research on Indo-Pacific regional geopolitics. He also holds a Master’s degree in International Studies from The University of Queensland, Australia. A native of Miaoli, a scenic region in Taiwan that is best known for Taiwan’s legendary Baishatun Mazu Pilgrimage, Duke also served as a military cadet. He speaks Mandarin Chinese, Taiwanese, English and has working knowledge of Korean language. In his leisure time, Duke likes outdoor activities and movies.
