John J. Lee is an Associate Vice President at The Asia Group (TAG), based in Seoul, Republic of Korea. In this role, he plays a critical part in advancing TAG’s mission to foster strategic partnerships and deliver impactful outcomes across the Asia-Pacific region. With specialized expertise in geopolitics, geoeconomics, and international relations, he also provides valuable insights to clients navigating the complexities of the region.
Prior to joining TAG, John led the Global Affairs Team at the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies, the think tank arm of SK Group. As Team Manager, he focused on analyzing the dynamic intersections of geopolitics and geoeconomics, particularly in relation to the Korean Peninsula. His work also encompassed examining the broader strategic implications of science and technology on national security and international relations.
Earlier in his career, John was a Senior Associate at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, where he conducted in-depth research on issues such as North Korea, the ROK-US alliance, ROK-Japan relations, US-China relations, and Korean public opinion. Additionally, he played a key role in supporting Chairman MJ Chung’s high-profile campaign for FIFA President in 2015.
John received his B.A. in government from Dartmouth College and M.A. in international cooperation from Yonsei University Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS). He is fluent in Korean and English.
