Kajal Lath is the Director of Finance for the New Delhi Office at The Asia Group. Kajal brings 16 years of work experience as a finance professional, working across start-ups and large advisory firms in India. Her expertise includes setting up the in-house functions of financial planning, reporting, and compliance with a strong understanding of Indian financial and tax regulations.
Prior to joining The Asia Group, Kajal worked as the Finance Lead for multiple start-ups across SaaS, Fintech, Edtech and Healthtech with a focus on fundraising from early-stage to Series A equity investors, financial modelling, and post investment cashflow management and reporting. Notably, She worked as the CFO of Karma Healthcare, an award-winning social enterprise and a Harvard Case Study, providing primary healthcare services for the underdeveloped communities in India. In this capacity, Kajal led the organization’s fundraising and overall financial strategy for three years. She was instrumental in creating various RMNCH+A based programs and Covid-19 relief initiatives through a mix of blended finance, impact investing, and CSR funding.
Kajal has managed the financial reporting and compliance for large scale programs at Grand Challenges Canada, UBS Optimus Foundation, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade – Australia and Hyundai Foundation. She also worked as a Finance Manager with Ennovent India, a family office fund, where she managed the evaluation of investment opportunities, due diligence, and the monitoring of the portfolio companies.
Kajal started her career as an associate on the investment banking team of BMR Advisors India, a firm started by the founders of EY and Arthur-Anderson. She helped BMR Advisors India’s technology team build financial models, investment decks, and conduct industry research and financial due diligence. She also worked at S.H Bathiya & Associates in their merchant banking and M&A practice.
Kajal is a qualified Chartered Accountant (All India Rank holder) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and has a dual Bachelor’s degree in Law and Commerce from the University of Mumbai. She resides in Mumbai with her husband and two children. She is proficient in Hindi and English and has basic knowledge of Marathi and Gujrati languages.
