Karthik Ayyalasomayajula is an AI Associate at The Asia Group. He specializes in applying cutting-edge machine learning techniques and developing statistical methodologies across both structured and unstructured data sources. His natural language processing work focuses on transforming complex textual data into actionable intelligence, helping bridge the gap between computational analysis and policy understanding.
Prior to joining The Asia Group, Karthik served as a Machine Learning Engineer at The Environmental Defense Fund, where he developed computer vision applications for environmental monitoring. As part of the oceans team, he focused on applying machine learning solutions to help counter overfishing.
Karthik graduated from the University of San Francisco with a Master’s in Data Science and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics from Washington State University. He enjoys writing both fiction and non-fiction, and maintains a blog analyzing and visualizing political trends from a data perspective. Originally from Washington State, Karthik enjoys board games, hiking, reading about history, and staying active in his free time.
