Max Monroe is an Associate for office administration and research at The Asia Group (TAG)’s Australia practice. Based out of Melbourne, Max’s role at TAG is to help global and Australian clients develop business strategies in the Asia-Pacific by providing well founded geopolitical, economic, and regulatory research. His role is also to help TAG in expanding its Australian office through business-to-business outreach.
Max brings a wealth of research experience from his time as an analyst and editor at Foreign Brief, a geopolitical analysis and intelligence platform that provides forward-looking assessments of global developments for clients. In his two years there, he covered a range of events, from Indonesia’s presidential campaign to New Zealand’s attempts at achieving a free trade agreement with India. Max was also involved in freelance research for The China Signal; a periodical focussed on Chinese commercial activities in Latin America. He assisted his thesis supervisor in 2022 by researching possible repercussions of AI integration into Chinese and American militaries.
He completed a Bachelor of International Studies (Hons 1st Class) from RMIT University in 2021, with his final year thesis focussing on the strategic outcomes of U.S. South China Sea policies under Presidents Obama and Trump. Max is completing his Masters of International Relations at the University of Melbourne. He is proficient in Spanish, with a basic understanding of French. In his spare time Max enjoys reading, travelling, and supporting his Australian rules football team the St. Kilda Saints.
