Nicola Ying Fry is an Associate at The Asia Group, where she focuses on digital policy trends. She works with TAG’s country teams to advise clients and provide analysis on data governance, content moderation, digital trade, and digital privacy issues across the Indo-Pacific.
Before joining TAG, Nicola spent two years in Kaohsiung, Taiwan as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant. Nicola also worked at an international education organization where she guided international high school students through the college admissions process.
Nicola’s professional background also includes research, analysis, and operations support. Previously, she researched China’s political and technology policy developments at The Carter Center, sourced new clients for business development at Intralink, and supported NGO and USAID projects in Central and Southeast Asia at Search for Common Ground.
Nicola received her master’s degree at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy where she studied international security and international business. Her capstone project focused on 5G in Africa. Nicola holds a BA in Sociology and Asian studies from Pitzer College where she was a four-year varsity soccer and lacrosse player. She is proficient in Mandarin.
