Remy Sorensen is an AI Associate at TAG AI, The Asia Group’s artificial intelligence–enabled platform. She works with the AI team to develop machine learning and data science methods for TAG AI, using her background in political science to inform global analysis. With expertise in bridging quantitative and qualitative data analysis, she works to turn abstract or subjective concepts into numerical or tangible insights.
Before Joining The Asia Group, Remy worked as a graduate researcher on the Signature Research Initiative’s (SRI) Detecting Hate Speech project, with a focus on online Islamophobia. She constructed models and ran statistical analysis using web-scraped data from unmonitored social media websites. This was where she was able to hone her machine learning skills and apply her data science education to impactful, real-world problems.
Remy graduated from American University with a master’s degree in data science with a specialization in applied public affairs and a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in economics. In her free time Remy enjoys playing volleyball, exploring DC, listening to podcasts, and reading. Remy was born and raised in San Francisco and is always happy to talk about California or the differences between the east and west coast.
