Prior to joining TAG, Rivan spent more than 12 years as a multimedia journalist in Indonesian and international newsrooms, including Voice of America and BBC News Indonesia. His reporting covered U.S. politics and foreign policy, U.S.-Indonesia relations, and Indonesia’s current affairs. He began his journalism career in Jakarta as a presidential correspondent for NET TV and later led a video team at Kumparan, Indonesia’s leading digital news platform.
Trilingual in Indonesian, English, and Sundanese, Rivan holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Gadjah Mada’s Faculty of Engineering. During his studies, he also worked as a radio announcer at Geronimo FM, a local Top 40 station—an experience that sparked his lasting interest in pop music.
