Salman Husain is a Vice President at The Asia Group, where he works with the firm’s South Asia and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) teams. Salman brings more than a decade of experience in international affairs and national security, advising clients across sectors including energy, technology, and life sciences.
Prior to joining The Asia Group, Salman served as a Foreign Affairs Officer at the U.S. Department of State, where he covered Lebanon and South and Central Asia, analyzing regional political developments and advising on U.S. foreign assistance policy. In the private sector, he worked as a consultant leading client delivery on business technology and enterprise data initiatives, helping organizations put new digital systems into practice.
Salman holds an M.A. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where he was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship, and is currently a Visiting Scholar at SAIS and a 2026 NextGen Fellow at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). Proficient in Bengali and Arabic, he has lived and worked in Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey, and is drawn to the deep historical, cultural, and commercial ties linking South and West Asia.
