Shameek Godara is a Senior Associate in The Asia Group’s Australia practice where he supports clients focused on national security and defense, and the energy and extractives sectors. Based in Canberra, Shameek assists clients with expert policy analysis, stakeholder strategy development, and government engagement support.
Shameek previously served as an Adviser at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Canberra, where he contributed to political, trade, and public diplomacy engagement to advance Norway-Australia cooperation. In this role, he advised on Australian domestic politics, foreign policy, and Indo-Pacific strategic developments, while supporting high-level engagements with federal and state governments, parliamentarians, and industry leaders. He played a key role in coordinating ministerial visits, bilateral dialogues, and large-scale public diplomacy initiatives, as well as producing policy briefs, speeches, and strategic analysis for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier, Shameek worked at the National Security College at the Australian National University, where he supported research initiatives focused on national security policy, data analysis, and strategic studies. Shameek has also written on Indo-Pacific strategic affairs for Lowy Institute’s Interpreter, with commentary focused on regional geopolitics, strategic partnerships, and security developments in the Indo-Pacific.
Shameek holds a Master of International Relations from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Political Science (Honours) from the University of Delhi. His academic work focused on international relations, strategic studies, and the evolving geopolitics of the Indo-Pacific region.
He has a strong interest in economic diplomacy, and the role of emerging strategic partnerships in shaping regional security and trade outcomes. In his spare time, Shameek enjoys hiking and camping.
