Stephanie Snow Gilbert is a Managing Principal at The Asia Group and chief of staff to Chairman and Co-Founder Dr. Kurt M. Campbell. A seasoned leader with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of foreign policy, economic strategy, and global security, Stephanie has served in high-level policy, management, and strategic planning roles at the State Department and White House under four U.S. administrations.

Prior to joining The Asia Group, Stephanie was the State Department’s acting Deputy Sanctions Coordinator. She previously served as Director for International Economics at the National Security Council, where she led policy development on U.S.-China economic relations, economic security, and critical and emerging technologies. From 2021 to 2023, Stephanie was a member the State Department’s Policy Planning Staff, advising Secretary Antony J. Blinken on global economic policy and institutional modernization and reform.

At the State Department, Stephanie led high-performing teams as coordinator of the Executive Secretariat Staff and as chief of staff to the Counselor, where she oversaw implementation of the Secretary’s policy, management, and legislative initiatives and shaped policy on Indo-Pacific security, China, and artificial intelligence. She also served as senior advisor for management strategy, leading a global realignment to expand the U.S. presence in the Indo-Pacific region and enhance the agility of U.S. diplomatic operations overseas. As special assistant to the Deputy Secretary of State from 2015 to 2017, Stephanie covered South and Central Asian affairs, cyber policy, counterterrorism, and intelligence issues. She served with the State Department overseas in South Asia and the Middle East.

Prior to government service, Stephanie worked at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, D.C. A native of Oklahoma City, Stephanie is a graduate of the University of Southern California and holds a Master’s degree from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service.
