Syeda Sabrina Akter is an AI + Data Science Associate at TAG AI, The Asia Group’s artificial intelligence-enabled geopolitics platform. In this role, Sabrina focuses on developing and optimizing AI chatbox systems, specifically building and refining retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines. She leverages her experience in prompt engineering and emerging LLM techniques to ensure the platform delivers accurate, contextually relevant insights while maintaining rigorous evaluative frameworks to track performance and mitigate hallucinations.
Prior to joining The Asia Group, Sabrina served as a graduate research assistant at George Mason University, where she led high-impact research on human-AI collaboration and multilingual NLP. Her doctoral dissertation focuses on building top-tier AI and linguistics conferences like EMNLP and NAACL, she has focused extensively on the reliability of AI tools in high stakes domains and mitigating biases in human-LLM interaction.
Sabrina is a Ph.D. candidate in computer science at George Mason University, where she also earned her Master’s degree. Beyond her academic work, she has been recognized with the Distinguished Academic Achievement Award and the Dissertation Completion Award from GMU. In her free time, Sabrina enjoys traveling and reading, and she has an adventurous habit of trying unusual food combinations. She is fluent in four languages and is a native Bengali speaker.
