Vikram Viswanathan is a Managing Principal at The Asia Group, where he leads the development and delivery of the GeoCommercial Strategy Group’s client offering and supports corporate strategy initiatives. He has spent his career at the intersection of the private and public sector and brings over 15 years of strategy, management, and policy experience.
Vikram most recently served as Chief Strategy Officer at the CHIPS Program Office (U.S. Department of Commerce), where he led the strategy organization in guiding $39 billion in semiconductor manufacturing and supply chain investments to advance national and economic security and resilience. In this role, he developed strategic perspectives in portfolio allocation, award negotiations, and investment decisions to address key priorities including supply chain resilience, geopolitical risks, and technological leadership and innovation. He joined the CHIPS program after serving as Senior Advisor at the Office of Recovery Programs (U.S. Department of the Treasury) where he stood up emergency housing programs to secure housing stability and limit evictions and foreclosures during the pandemic.
Vikram previously worked in management consulting at Bain & Company, where his work included private equity due diligence, customer insights and segmentation, market models and forecasts, scenario analyses, strategic growth initiatives, and organizational change. He also worked on housing, economic development, and infrastructure planning in New York City government, and strategy and special initiatives at Industrious, a flexible workspace company. He started his career as a math teacher through Teach for America.
Vikram earned an M.B.A. from The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) and a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University. He enjoys playing and watching tennis and checking out local public transit while traveling. He lives with his wife and son in Washington, D.C.
