Rhea Menon is an Associate at The Asia Group, where she works with the firm’s South Asia Team, assisting with deep-dive research projects, market analysis, data visualization, analytics, and publications.
Previously, Rhea was also associated with the South Asia program at the United States Institute of Peace. Before joining The Asia Group, Rhea worked with the National Committee on US-China Relations, where she tracked U.S. policy on China and analyzed China’s evolving position in the world. Prior to that she was a senior communications coordinator and research assistant at Carnegie India, where she examined India’s and China’s global engagements, conceptualized media elements for outreach, and produced Interpreting India, Carnegie India’s podcast. Her professional background also includes performing research for the India China America Institute, where she focused on the role of social media in Indian and Chinese politics, and as a research associate with Zambia’s Ministry of Health.
Rhea holds a graduate certificate in Chinese and American studies from the Hopkins-Nanjing Center and a Master of Arts in international relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). At SAIS, her regional focus was China’s foreign and developmental policy towards South Asia. Rhea graduated from the College of William and Mary with a Bachelor of Arts in international relations and Chinese language & literature. Her senior research project focused on India’s and China’s voting patterns in the United Nations. Rhea is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Hindi.
