The Asia Group Announces Acquisition of Dhamiri

Washington, DC & New Delhi | October 13, 2022 — The Asia Group (“TAG”) is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of strategic innovation firm Dhamiri as part of its ongoing Asia Expansion Initiative and longstanding commitment to providing best-in-class service across India and the broader Indo-Pacific. Founded by Anand Shah, Dhamiri supports the world’s leading companies to align business-led strategy with public interest and complements TAG’s core market entry, government affairs, and enterprise risk management solutions. Since 2020, TAG and Dhamiri have collaborated closely on several high-stakes strategic expansion initiatives for leading multinationals and share the view that to lead in Asia, you must lead in India.

Anand Shah has joined The Asia Group as Partner, where he is responsible for developing and executing the firm’s business strategy in South Asia alongside The Asia Group’s India Subsidiary Chair and Partner Ashok Malik. The acquisition of Dhamiri provides clients across TAG’s broader geographic portfolio with access to Dhamiri’s proprietary Contextual Intelligence® and Strategic Imagination® process. As part of the acquisition, The Asia Group is also proud to announce that Mr. Uzair Younus will join TAG from Dhamiri as Vice President for South Asia.

Anand Shah is a trusted counselor to the world’s most innovative companies navigating South Asia’s dynamic business landscape. Prior to founding Dhamiri, Anand led the development of strategic initiatives as Senior Vice President of Indian ride-hailing giant Ola. He co-founded Ola’s foray into electric vehicles (Ola Electric), conceptualized and led the Ola Mobility Institute, and supported the expansion of Ola’s business into international markets. Anand has also worked on global strategy for new ventures at BMW AG, including driving the company’s assessments of urban and autonomous mobility, developing external investment objectives and the global startup accelerator Urban-X, as well as initiating new ventures centered on urban impact. He worked in a similar capacity at Audi AG’s Social Innovation group.

Uzair Younus is an seasoned strategic advisor with a wealth of experience guiding investors on projects in South Asia. While at Dhamiri, Uzair served as Manager for Engagement and Strategy for companies to optimize social impact. Prior to joining Dhamiri, Younus worked as Director of Albright Stonebridge Group’s South Asia practice. In this role, he helped clients develop strategies for long-term growth in the region, assess political and economic developments, and engage with government and non-government stakeholders on policy issues in various sectors, including the energy and technology sectors.
