The Asia Group Expands National Security & Defense Capabilities and Welcomes Back Greg Chaffin as Principal

Washington, DC | April 19, 2023 — The Asia Group (“TAG”) is pleased to announce the hiring of Greg Chaffin as a Principal in the Defense and Aerospace Practice. Greg’s return to TAG reflects the firm’s continued investment in world-class talent and commitment to expanding its industry-leading national security and defense service platform.

Greg brings 15 years of experience advising corporate leaders and U.S. policymakers to understand, anticipate, and leverage the dynamic strategic environment across the Indo-Pacific. Most recently, the National Security Advisor to U.S. Representative Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), Greg will provide clients with national security, legislative, and technical expertise that will enable them to capture growth opportunities across core defense requirements, and new frontiers including artificial intelligence, digital, cyber, space, autonomy, and UAS/Counter-UAS.

Greg Chaffin is a seasoned foreign policy and national security expert. As National Security Advisor to Rep. Slotkin from 2021 to 2023, Greg served as the congresswoman’s principal advisor on all national security and foreign policy issues, including her work on the House Armed Services Committee and the National Defense Authorization Act. Previously, Greg held various roles in the Department of Defense, including as the Senior Advisor and Acting Chief of Staff to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs and Senior Advisor for East Asia.
