The Asia Group Welcomes Nisha Biswal and Amb. Taranjit Singh Sandhu as Senior Advisors

WASHINGTON, DC | March 27, 2025 — The Asia Group (TAG) is pleased to announce an expansion of its South Asia practice with the appointments of Nisha Biswal and Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu as Senior Advisors. Their decades of expertise will further strengthen The Asia Group’s reputation as the premier business consultancy across the Indo-Pacific.

“Nisha and Taranjit’s distinguished careers place them among the world’s top experts in the U.S.-India corridor and South Asian affairs,” said Nirav Patel, CEO and Co-Founder of TAG. “They both possess unparalleled insights into the political and economic relationships transforming the region – and understand how to translate that knowledge into deft advice and actionable strategies for client success.”

Nisha Biswal is one of the most widely respected voices on U.S. policy towards South Asia with over 30 years of experience across the executive branch, Congress, and the private sector. Before joining TAG, Biswal served as Deputy CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation where she helped scale the Agency to become the largest bilateral development finance institution in the U.S. and align investments to advance strategic priorities in energy, infrastructure, and critical minerals. She also served as a Senior Vice President at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce from 2017 to 2023, leading the U.S.-India and U.S.-Bangladesh Business Councils, and as Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs at the Department of State from 2013 to 2017.

Taranjit Singh Sandhu brings over 35 years of distinguished diplomatic experience in the Indian Foreign Service particularly in advancing U.S.-India relations, engaging with industry, and advising on India’s foreign policy imperatives across the Indo-Pacific. Prior to TAG, Sandhu served as the 28th Ambassador of India to the United States from 2020 to 2024, facilitating diplomatic relations, trade, and international cooperation between the U.S. and India under two presidential administrations. Sandhu also served as High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka from 2017 to 2020. A career Foreign Service officer, Sandhu has wide ranging expertise on India’s external relations having held multiple responsibilities including in Moscow, Kiev, New Delhi, New York, and Frankfurt.

“Nisha and Taranjit’s rich career experience is incomparable,” said Rexon Ryu, President of The Asia Group. “Their intimate knowledge of the relationships that shape South Asia, and the Indo-Pacific more broadly, will help TAG’s clients chart the most intelligent, impactful paths forward for their businesses.”

“Nisha and Taranjit exemplify the type of world-class talent at TAG that can help clients understand and pursue opportunities in India and South Asia,” said Ashok Malik, Partner and Chair of the India Practice at The Asia Group. “Bringing them onboard underscores TAG’s continued commitment to offer client servicing of the highest quality by marrying in-market expertise with global insights.”
