The Asia Group Welcomes Sophia Gaston as Senior Advisor

Washington, D.C. | July 30, 2025 – The Asia Group (TAG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sophia Gaston as a Senior Advisor. A leading foreign policy researcher and geopolitical analyst, Gaston brings deep expertise on Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific security, democratic resilience, and strategic competition. She will provide TAG clients valuable insight into UK security posture, especially vital in the context of the evolving AUKUS partnership.

Based in London, Gaston currently serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Statecraft and National Security at King’s College London. She also holds senior affiliations with the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, the National Security College at the Australian National University, and the European Policy Centre.

“Sophia’s deep understanding of the evolving global security environment and her work across both the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions make her an invaluable addition to our team,” said Abraham Denmark, Partner at TAG. “Her insight will be critical to helping our clients navigate today’s increasingly complex geopolitical challenges.”

Gaston has served as an advisor to the UK Government on strategic risk, foreign policy, and China capabilities. She is a leading advocate for the AUKUS trilateral partnership, founding the British AUKUS Industry Forum and convening the inaugural AUKUS Dialogue in Washington, D.C.

“I’m thrilled to join The Asia Group at such a pivotal moment for global security and strategic competition,” said Gaston. “I look forward to supporting clients as they seek to understand and adapt to the new geopolitical landscape.”

Gaston will advise TAG clients on transatlantic cooperation, Indo-Pacific alignment, democratic resilience, and strategic industry partnerships.
