TAG-SIDM Report on Mapping Opportunities in India’s Defence Exports

The Asia Group partnered with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), the leading defense and aerospace industry body in India, to develop a report on enhancing defense exports from India. Titled ‘Mapping Opportunities in India’s Defence Exports’, the report was released by the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at the SIDM Annual Session and Champion Awards 2025 in New Delhi on October 27, 2025.

The report provides an incisive assessment of India’s export landscape, highlighting opportunities across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. It underscores the growing global demand for cost-competitive, reliable, and technologically advanced defense systems – from missiles and naval platforms to surveillance technologies. The study also identifies the Defense Line of Credit (DLoC) as a key instrument for expanding India’s strategic footprint through concessional financing and long-term partnerships. Emphasizing the need for global integration, the report calls for the creation of regional export hubs, the development of reciprocal supply chains, a greater focus on R&D and technology collaboration, and the adoption of international standards.

The report has been authored by Shailender Arya, Senior Advisor, and Anshita Shukla, Associate, at The Asia Group’s New Delhi office, and includes practical recommendations for boosting defense exports.
