The Asia Group Announces New Offices in Australia

Washington, DC; Canberra, Australia | January 30, 2025 – The Asia Group (TAG) is excited to announce the opening of new regional offices in Australia with a presence in Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney. This expansion underscores TAG’s unwavering commitment to deepening its in-region presence and delivering unparalleled services tailored to drive outcomes for clients with interests across the Indo-Pacific.

“With the launch of our Australia offices, The Asia Group cements its place as the premier business and geopolitical advisory firm for companies seeking to seize opportunities and address market challenges across the Indo-Pacific region,” said Rexon Ryu, President of TAG. “Our Australian presence offers a strategic gateway to the region, including the United States, for industry leaders, investors, and decision-makers. TAG’s advanced offerings in aerospace, defense, critical technologies, and other sectors are designed to guide organizations through the shifting geopolitical terrain and appeal to investors drawn to the growing Australian market.”

Rebecca Shrimpton, an accomplished strategist in defense, space policy, and national security, will lead TAG’s in-country team as Australia Country Director. Shrimpton brings nearly 25 years of seasoned experience in the Australian national security community, including as a senior advisor to Australia’s Foreign Minister and positions with the Australian Department of Defence, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Embassy of Australia in Washington, DC, and the Australian Strategic Policy Institute. Shrimpton will initially be supported by TAG Vice President Dr. Cathy Moloney, who brings deep expertise on in-market political, strategic, and defense issues, and TAG Associate Melanie Kilby.

“We are thrilled to establish a deeper presence in Australia and welcome Bec and Cathy to the TAG team,” said Partner and Chair of the Australia Practice Ambassador Arthur Sinodinos AO. “Our in-country presence will further enable our delivery of business relevant insights and strategic engagements to help Australian corporates and global technology companies to identify and connect into new opportunities across the Indo-Pacific region.”

TAG’s Australia Practice, led by former Australian Ambassador to the United States Arthur Sinodinos AO and Managing Director Jacqueline Borsboom, provides leading market entry, market access, crisis resolution, and enterprise risk management to companies navigating the complexities of Australia’s robust market. The Australia Practice coordinates closely with TAG’s subsidiaries across the region to support inbound, outbound, and transnational investment strategies related to Australia and the broader Indo-Pacific.

The Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney presence augments TAG’s extensive network of regional offices, including Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei, Shanghai, Hanoi, Bangkok, New Delhi, and Mumbai. Since its founding in Washington, DC. in 2013, TAG has grown to include over 130 professionals worldwide.
