Merry brings more than a decade of public and private sector experience working on international economic and financial issues in both the United States and Asia. Merry advised and briefed senior officials at the highest level of government across three administrations, including most recently as Senior Advisor on the National Economic Council (NEC).

During her tenure at the White House, Merry helped develop and coordinate the U.S. Government’s economic approach to China and played an instrumental role in the U.S.-China Phase One trade agreement. She served as the lead coordinator of the U.S.-Japan Economic Dialogue and was deeply involved in negotiations with Korea to improve the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement.
Previously, Merry held various senior roles across the U.S. government. At the Department of the Treasury, she advised leadership on China currency issues and participated in the U.S.-China Bilateral Investment Treaty negotiations. Previously, Merry served at the Central Intelligence Agency, including in Asia, and as a global energy market analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Her private sector experience includes Citadel and Citigroup.
